Contract Fuel
Prospect Feedback
As a Senior User Experience Designer at Avinode, I analyzed customer and prospect feedback on a quarterly basis, sharing insights with leadership to inform our roadmap and identify quick wins.
One recurring theme was the issue of contract fuel, which emerged as a significant adoption barrier for prospective customers. They wanted integrated access to all their contracted fuel prices within the system, eliminating the need to leave the application.

My Role
I combined user research, data insights, and detailed analysis to develop this feature, effectively addressing core issues with contract fuel and positively impacting our customers' workflows.
User Pain Points
Flight schedulers will need to plan the fuel stop and which FBO and fuel vendor they will use to get fuel. They currently have all this information in multiple excel files and have to search for the information.
Project Goals
Allow flight schedulers to easily manage multiple contract fuel memberships and easily import prices into Schedaero.
Then in Schedaero, they can compare pricing across all FBOs for each leg of a trip to guarantee the best price on fuel.
User Research Goal:
To find out if being able to see the contract fuel prices in a modal is enough functionalityGoal Findings:
“it'd be nice to eliminate having to go to different websites to see those prices"
“We'd love to get rid of ForeFlight track fuel"
“We'd love to get rid of ForeFlight track fuel"
“That's definitely beneficial. That's pretty much what we were looking for. This is good because we just wanted it
within the same system so we're not jumping back and forth"
“just to upload it and have it in there would be great. the process looks a lot easier,"
"it makes life easy for us versus having to sort through all the CSV files that we just have to throw into a folder and then manually hunt for the information, which is time consuming"

Yes! All of them said that being able to see pricing inside of Schedaero is a BIG workflow improvement.
Interation 1:
Viewing Contract Fuel Prices
As a flight scheduler, I want to
- be able to import contract fuel price sheets so that I can easily manage multiple contract fuel memberships in Schedaero.
- be able to edit an uploaded contract fuel pricing sheet so that I can maintain the most accurate data and latest pricing sheet.
- be able to delete a contract fuel pricing sheet so that I can remove a contract fuel membership and price details completely from the system and I won’t see pricing for that fuel provider on trip logistics.
Being able to upload a fuel sheet seems like an easy workflow. It was not, we had to support:
- Different expiration dates
- Fuel prices for different aircrafts
- Parsing errors
As a flight scheduler when I am on the logistics tab of a flight and I am making a decision for where to purchase fuel I want to be able to see all fuel prices from all contract fuel providers in one place for each FBO so that I can make the best cost saving decision on where to go for fuel.
Interation 2:
Selecting a fuel vendor
Feedback from customers were that they were trying to copy and paste the fuel pricing table from the UI into the notes section.
As a flight scheduler, when I am looking at fuel for a trip I would like to be able to select the fuel provider so that i do not have to type the details into the fuel notes for the pilot to view.
