Supplier xChange Ordering

My Role

As the lead designer on this project, I worked closely with the Product Manager to understand the business needs, project scope, and the personas impacted. I also collaborated with the development lead to identify and address any technical constraints.

I led user research, presented my findings, and delivered the final designs.

Project’s Goals:

  • Compare the price for an item from mulitple distributor connections in your estimate
  • Send the bill of materials from an estimate once the project is won into the Supplier Xchange procurement platform where it can be accessed by your purchasers.
  • Manage and track quotes and orders sent to preferred suppliers through the platform
  • Retrieve a line-item level automatic sync of materials from individual purchase orders sent through Supplier Xchange directly into your ERP

Workflow diagrams

Before beginning the design phase, I created workflow diagrams to understand the overall process and collaborated with the Product Manager to define the project scope.

Shared material list

Builders use multiple software tools to perform their jobs, including Trimble’s estimation software for estimating material and labor and Supplier Xchange for managing material orders. Both of these systems use a Bill of Materials (BOM), and it is crucial that they remain in sync. The first step of this project was to ensure that the BOM data was consistent across both software products.

Able to check prices on materials

Users can select multiple items in their BOM to get supplier prices from. User can then select the best price to update the
